The standard charge for lost/damaged/non-returned material is a $75 replacement cost fee PLUS a $25 processing fee. Certain materials and equipment have a replacement cost equal to the purchase cost PLUS a $25 processing fee.
Patrons will be notified automatically by our system via email when their material is almost overdue; overdue; 1 week overdue; 2 weeks overdue and marked as lost; and 3 weeks overdue and billed to your library account. If the material has not been returned by this point, a library staff person will email the patron to let them know that if they do not return the material the fee will be transferred to the Business Office to be applied to their college account. The library will FORGIVE/WAIVE the replacement charge fee and processing fee if the material is returned in good condition BEFORE we have purchased a replacement item (this does not apply to EZborrow/Interlibrary loan items). If a patron has already paid for the lost material and has since found it, the library will refund the replacement charge fee if the material is returned in good condition within 4 weeks of the bill’s date (this does not apply to EZBorrow/Interlibrary Loan items).
If you have questions, please stop by the User Services Desk, call 724-223-6070, or email asklib@washjeff.edu
